While Juliet is a restaurant based in the traditions of Nice, france...
We also feature a rotating menu production schedule that runs alongside our normal a la carte menu. Sometimes these menus will take over the restaurant entirely for one night only, but normally they simply exist in the background as an option for your to choose during your dinner experience. These menus typically feature a special Sunday night family friendly supper in addition, and are a very special way to experience Juliet in general.
Why do we do this? There are two versions of this story, both are true.
Before moving to its current location, Juliet existed in a very small space with limited seating and storage. To make the business work we developed this immersive dining style based around the same menu rotation that we currently use today. When moving to our larger location after 6 years, we kept the rotation but allowed it to exist in the background, an edible piece of our history, alongside the new Niçoise traditions that we put front and center.
Which brings us to explanation number two. In Nice, there is an unassuming restaurant on the corner of Rue Rossetti and Rue de la Poissonnerie called RossettiSserie. It is a cute play on words based on its location and it’s focus on simply roasted meats, as well as typical Niçoise fare. The main dining room is in a wine cellar, while the bathroom is located two floors up. Before arriving at the restroom, patrons have to pass through a private dining room which serves a completely different, rotating menu, sometimes complete with visiting chefs from other cities or even countries. Although Niçoise cuisine never got its due at original Juliet, this rotating menu concept certainly did. In the new Juliet, Nice went front and center, we added the wine cellar in the rear of the restaurant, and we reimagined our rotating menu program.
So, here is the archive of the rotating menu production schedule. You can see which menus we are currently serving from the menus link above, but here you have the background information, if it interests you :) It certainly interests us.
